Not in North Dallas Anymore...
One thing we have to get used to here in Des Moines is the lack of gyms. In North Dallas there were 4 or 5 gyms within 10 miles of my house, all big chain type gyms. The only gyms I've seen here are "Anytime Fitness" ( A really small rinky dinky type gym) and the YMCA. The Y is pretty big, they have a pool, offer classes, and have pretty descent equipment. So...we stopped by to get a trial pass for a week even though we realize there is no real need to try it out because it's kind of our only option here. Saturday morning we woke up and got ready for spin class! Spin is one of my most favorite workouts! I can always push myself harder and longer on the bike then anything else. The bikes at the Y were different but also pretty cool cause they had a bike computer that tells you your RPM, gear and other stuff. The class was pretty intense but I found myself very aware of how much time had passed, mostly because the music was seriously lacking. There was music playing but it was like an after thought. The spin classes I'm used to have music playing with a beat that matches the RPM you are trying to keep. When you are pedaling to a beat the time passes so much faster! Random music playing softly in the background doesn't quite cut it for me! After spin I looked in on the Y pump class ( a lifting class) because my other favorite workout is lifting weights and I enjoyed doing body pump back home. I couldn't hear any music in that class! All I could hear is the instructor and all I could see was everyone's really bad form! I kept thinking...where did all the music go? I really hope that this no music thing was just a fluke or something isolated to these 2 instructors.

Boxes, boxes everywhere
We just moved into our new apartment in Des Moines and there are boxes literally everywhere! We moved from a 3000sq ft house into a 1000sq ft apartment so.... We sold most of our furniture and bought some shelves from ikea but all of that had to be assembled. It's really hard to unpack when you don't have anywhere to put anything. Our apartment was literally a maze! I slowly started unpacking the kitchen boxes 1st since I hoped to find a home for at least half of it. Um... I have a lot of kitchen stuff! I at least created some space in the rest of the apartment and made it a little easier to get to the other boxes. We are now on our 3rd night in Des Moines and the majority of our boxes have been broken down and taken to the recycling dumpster. We now have neat little piles of my kitchen stuff stacked in the dining room and on the kitchen table. Hopefully hubby will have my new little hutch thing for the dining room and shelf unit for the laundry room (off the kitchen) finished soon so I can start filling them with all my kitchen crap!
